The Cross Over Movement

Player Development

The Cross Over Movement’s goal is to create global players through an age-appropriate skill progression. A global player is one who develops all skills, rather than developing the skills to play one position or one role. The Cross Over Movement advocated a  Long Term Athlete Development model which builds gradually over time rather than a Peak by Friday mentality which emphasizes the next result over development.

The Cross Over Movement focuses on skill development in three areas: Athletic Skills, Tactical Skills and Technical Skills. These skills develop interdependently, and the best method of skill development changes by age group.

Through this philosophy of Long Term Athlete Development and focus on global players, the model enhances the development of elite talent, while creating a more athlete-centered environment for all players to increase every players’ fun, learning and development.
